Roomba Maintenance Guide, according to Model Number

Your shiny new Roomba is not a small investment. Even though it’ll free up some time you would’ve otherwise spent vacuuming manually, it still cost a sizable chunk of cash.

To keep your Roomba in tip-top shape, you’ll want to perform regular cleaning and maintenance. Take care of your robot and it’ll take care of your floors.

iRobot  has guidelines on how often to replace components of your robot vacuum, but some of them are unrealistic. For example, they recommend replacing the corner brush on the Roomba S9+ every 3 months.

That may make sense for someone with a giant house, runs the Roomba every day, and has 7 cats. I doubt the majority of Roomba owners put their machine through this type of use. Why change the corner brush if it’s still works fine?

Here is a more practical guide. Keep in mind these are just suggestions and everyone should adjust the schedule to fit their particular needs. These are merely my personal preferences and should not override iRobot’s official recommendations. If you are unsure how to perform a specific step, refer to the operating manual. For the most commonly used steps, see the pictures below.

Apply common sense when it comes to maintenance of your robot vacuum.

    1. Good question Henry. The rolling brushes have differently shaped ends. Match the ends to the similarly shaped holes on the Roomba to install the rollers correctly.
